About WorkART

As an exchange and fellowship program, WorkART connects German art associations with students from Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Boston (USA).

During a four- to six-week internship, which takes place each summer (June–August), students learn about the work of the art associations, actively take on tasks, provide new impetus on site, and establish international networks.

WorkART was launched in 2011 by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Kunstvereine (ADKV) in cooperation with the Center for German and European Studies (CGES) at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Since 2012, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and Macalester College in St. Paul have also been participating in the program, and since 2018, Boston College has joined as well. The program is funded by the DAAD.

In 2013, the cooperation was expanded through the program “WorkART connections. Kunstverein Curators in the Twin Cities” and implemented in 2014 and 2016.

Especially in times of political crisis, this program seems more important to us than ever. With WorkART, we want to promote cultural exchange and strengthen international networks.
