Coumba Samba’s Jahresgabe references works from her exhibition deutschland, which was on display at the Kunstverein in Hamburg from May 24 to August 10, 2025. As symbols of global trade, containers as objects question the relationship between free trade agreements and self-determination, which is being transformed by international supply chains. In this context, the colours chosen by Samba, with their cultural and emotional connotations, become a language through which a world dominated by capital networks can be experienced.

Stacked monochrome, geometric shapes evoke the visual semantics of international supply chains. The rigid forms are reminiscent of compositions in early 20th-century abstract geometric painting, although Samba's installation deviates from this art-historical model by giving the monochromes a coded meaning and cultural resonance.
